OOC: Alright, I really want this RP to work, so I'm going to try it one more time but speed it up a bit this time. Please make a few good characters so we can actually play this right. I posted it on another site and they were all n00bs so I just dropped, I really want to take it to the end this time!

The investigates left the ram shackled house, closing the door behind them, shutting out the cries of a grieving mother.
"That's the seventh one now, when do you think he is going to quit?"
"I don't know... maybe its not even the same person?"
"It has to be, the kidnappings have been to systematic to be different people."
"This guy is a monster, and that's a sure thing. The city is in major trouble, and people are starting to panic."
"Yes, I've noticed. Higher authorities are now getting involved. I over heard in the break room that some evidence has suggested the kidnapper has set his base of operations in those cursed ruins just south of here. However, everyone I talked to, is to afraid to even consider going in there. I also heard that the mayor has issued a notice, that the city is hiring mercenaries, and he is going to lead a team of them into the ruins, and try to take out who ever, or whatever this thing is."
Just then the investigators passed by a light pole, on which a slightly tattered piece of paper loosely hung. One of the investigators pulled the paper off the pole, and spread it tight for him and his partner to read.
"Wow, they are really serious about this. I knew most people would be afraid, but I didn't realize that the mayor would be this desperate."
"It's a very dangerous place, I wouldn't be surprised if all of them were found dead. You couldn't get me in there, even for that much."
Both investigators looked down at the paper one more time, before letting it blow away in the light wind, it read:

BAM! BAM! BAM! Went the sound of the gavel, as the mayor repeatedly smashed it on his podium, in a futile attempt to quiet down the roughty crowd. What could he expect from a bunch of mercenaries and low lifes just looking to make a quick buck. The mayor looked around the room, and saw roughly thirty individuals sitting around, some looking much more competent and intimidating than others. A few of them made the mayor almost want to wet his pants, while others looked as if they had just walked out of a bar.
"You all know why you have been summoned here, but, I'm sure, only vaguely. As many of you have probably heard there have been several disappearances lately, seven, to be exact. Just recently, we received an anonymous tip that the kidnapper has established his base of operations in the ruins just south of here. Also, as many of you know, those ruins are cursed... heavily. It is rumored that, whom ever enters never returns...*Bum Bum Bummmmmm (other dramatic music)* So for the safety and well being of our fine city, I have decided to take it upon myself, and overcome these rumors and fears, and venture into those ruins. Obviously, you have all chosen the same fate. Now personally, I do not believe in these myths, and I'm sure there is just some nut job living in there, and he would be no match for all of us, there is safety in numbers, as I always say. Now as all of you know, you will receive your ten thousand dollar reward upon returning from our venture. I will need all of you to sign these forms, stating if any misfortune did happen to befall you, it is not the cities problem, nor responsibility, and your family, if you have any, will not be compensated in any way. Any of you wishing to not sign these, or have reconsidered, may leave now."
A man sitting to the far left of the mayor, wearing a black trench coat, hat, and boots, stood up and removed from inside his briefcase a stack of papers. Walking around the room, he passed a paper to each of the people still present in the room.
"Now, after you all sign that and pass them back to me, I will speak with you each individually in that room over there."
The mayor pointed to a door just right of himself.
"I will ask each of you a series of questions, for example, how is your physical health? What sort of skills do you bring to the table, and do you have any... special... "diseases" I should know about?" Upon saying the last bit of his speech, the mayor put a hint on his speech, knowing whom ever really had what he was asking about would understand what he meant.
"After your interview is complete, you may leave the facility, and head home to prepare yourself. I suggest you all get a good nights sleep. We will meet out side the ruins at eleven PM tomorrow evening, so we can hopefully catch the kidnapper off guard and hopefully sleeping. Make sure you come prepared for anything. I don't think we will meet much resistance, but that does not mean we should let our guard down. The last thing this city needs is a massacre. Now please bring up your forms and hand them to mister Dante over there, and then line up in front of the door, and I will take you in one at a time. Thank you."
The mayor stepped off his podium and walked into the room, where he silently sat, contemplating a game plan and waiting for his first interviewee. He dearly hoped in his heart he had attracted some of those "diseased" people, for he knew, with out them, the party would surely not succeed. Although he didn't want to accept it, the danger waiting in those ruins was much more than he alone could handle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The mayor sat at his desk, leafing through the papers that had been handed to him. Most were just standard profiles, but there were a few in the bunch that interested him. Most people had been vague in their descriptions, and he hoped he would learn much more about them in the interview process soon to follow.
"Dante, please invite Mr. Culligan into the room, we will conduct the first interview with him." Dante nodded and exited through the door located to the far right of the desk the mayor was sitting at. Shortly after Dante re-entered the room followed by a tall, somewhat slim man wearing a brown trench coat, black pants and hat, dawning two shiny revolvers on the sides of his belt. The man sat down on the seat located on the opposite side of the desk, and Dante repositioned himself next to the mayor, standing at attention, staring at the stranger.
The mayor looked up from his papers at the man, and tapped what he was holding lightly on the desk. "So Mr.... Culligan, nice to meet you, you may refer to me as Adso. I have a few simple questions for you, and I would like you to answer them with the truth, and only the truth. Anything you say here will not leave this room, I assure you, so feel free to tell me everything. Now, for my first question, do you go by any aliases that you would prefer we would call you?"
"Ya, call me Snipe."
"Alright, Mr. Snipe..."
"No, just Snipe."
"Fine, Snipe, tell me a little about yourself, some history if you will."
"Well, I was born in a small town several hundred miles from here, so you would probably never have heard of it. At the age of eighteen I was conscripted into the army against my will, but I soon learned to love it. I was put into an experimental unit, a unit that would test new weapons... like these babies right here." Snipe said pointing to the guns strapped to his belt. "These are by far the best devices for killing that man has ever created; much more efficient than those old fashioned bows, and what not. Anyways, our unit quickly gained a hardy reputation, and I was the star of the stars. We were sent on special missions, left and right, crushing all of those that stood before us! We were unstoppable! Then... one day... they gave us something we COULDN'T handle. You may not believe me, but daemons do exist, I've fought one before; in fact, it killed my whole unit except for me.... We went in there... so... cocky like... we thought we were immortal, you know? Our band was crushing what we thought to be the enemy troops like flies, but later we found out they were only peons, lesser daemons. Harder, bigger, stronger creatures started appearing, grotesque things, but we were able to kill most of them, with only a few of our own being lost... Then... we saw it... the most horrifying thing I have ever seen... so ominous... and powerful... it was almost impossible to look at... We fired at it with everything we had... Nothing seemed to work against it, as he simply picked us off one by one, like we were nothing to him. It was the only time in my life I think I was ever truly afraid of death... I don't know what happened... but I ran... I ran and I hid as I watched my comrades die around me... I to would have been killed... if it wasn't for our leader... He was different... special in a way, he had extraordinary power. I'm not sure where his powers came from, or even really what they were. He had told us about them once, and every so often someone in our troop would claim to have seen a glimpse of the commander using them in action. But the commander confronted the beast, head on, and fought him single handedly. They fought for several minutes, destroying everything around them... I was to frightened to really look at what was happening... I hid... and I prayed to God to spare me... He granted my prayers..." Snipe looked down at his revolvers, fingering the grips lightly. It appeared as if a single tear rolled down his right eye. He looked back up at his interviewers. "It was over, and the beast began to dissolve. I got up from my hiding place and ran over to the man that had saved my life. He was wounded... badly. I knew I couldn't save him, but I tried anyways, desperately trying to repair all that was damaged. He slowly lifted his hand and brought it to my face and whispered these words to me, "Snipe... I'm so glad you lived... I would have it be no other... and that's why I had you run away... Take that book... take the book and hide it where no one will ever find it... Good bye... Snipe..." He died... he died right there in front of me... I didn't know at first what he had meant... I was so confused... I then noticed that the beast had dissolved back into a man, and he was holding a large black book in his hands. I also didn't understand what he had meant by making me run away... but now... now I believe that he somehow controlled my mind... making me hide... he must have known that book was going to appear... and he needed someone he could trust to get rid of it... and I did... or so I thought... I took it to the most distant and difficult to reach place I could find... but... I think I may have failed him... This is why I am here today... I must avenge my fallen comrades, and take care of what I started, not only hiding, but destroying that which has caused me so much pain..."
"Are you suggesting that the events happening around here have to do with this same book of which you speak?" Questioned the mayor.
"I'm not certain... but the circumstances are very similar to those of old... and I'm certain the book has been stolen from its original hiding area... It was just a matter of time before someone figured out how to really use it..."
"I see... thank you Snipe... this information may prove to be very valuable to us... let us continue the interview however." The mayor said, beginning to tremble slightly. Regaining his composure, "So... this being said, how old are you Snipe."
"I'm now sixty-three years of age... but have no worries, I'm in as good of condition as I ever have been."
"I see. And what sort of special talents do you offer us?"
"Well... as my name implies, I'm a sniper. My hearing and vision are considerably more ept than those of an average human, and from this I have developed an almost pin point accuracy, as well as a very acute detection skill. Finally, I have spent the past ten years of my life studying creature anatomy, and have nearly perfected the art of enemy reading. I can eye a foe and find all of his weak points almost instantly. Paired up with my superior accuracy, I can drop nearly any enemy within seconds."
Adso nodded his head in approval, he realized this man would prove to be a most valuable asset to the group. "And snipe... one last question for you... you know those "powers" you spoke of earlier... you wouldn't happen to have any of those yourself would you?"
Snipe gave off a light chuckle, "I thought that's what you were referring to when you mentioned "diseases" earlier... but no... I do not have any unfortunately... I know you may be looking for these type of people, but please let me fight with you. I promise to prove my worth. I wont let you down."
"I have no doubts of that." Responded Adso, giving off a light chuckle himself, "No need to worry yourself about not being accepted, you have already proven your worth. In fact, I would like to make you one of the groups leaders, I feel the knowledge you posses will be our key to victory."
"Heh, well thank you, I will gladly accept your offer. It's time I... we took down this foe of ours, once and for all."
"Indeed. Well, that's all we need with you for now. We'll see you tomorrow. I'm sure you'll come prepared. We can only hope our new comrades will do the same. From what you have said, I doubt the three of us can handle this job alone..." Adso looked to the mysterious companion at his side, "Dante please bring in the next of our candidates, lets hope they prove to be as fruitful as this one." Adso said turning to Snipe giving him a light smile.
Snipe stood up and began to exit the room, closely followed by Dante. Re-entering the waiting room, anxious eyes beat down on him as he exited the building to return back to the room he was staying in for the night. I promise you commander... I wont let you down again!
Dante followed Snipe to the end of the first door and positioned himself next to it looking at the list of names in his hand. Lifting his head slightly, he began to call off the next name on the list.
OCC: Alright, have your character get interviewed by Adso and Dante answering the same general questions that I asked, being Age, history, skills, and powers (if any). You may auto play Adso and Dante, but only to a small extent please. Simply have Adso ask you the questions, adding your twists here and there, but not taking him out of character. And if you auto play Dante, please don't have him say anything, just movement.
